Sundays at Ithaca

Every Sunday, we come together to worship God, pray, and hear his Word to us through the Bible. Everyone is welcome to join us and simply sit in the service, and there’s absolutely no obligation to participate in anything you’re not comfortable with.

Parking

There are parking places available on the church property itself. Just drive into the entry driveway on the left and head down the hill. There’s parking available on the way down the driveway, and spaces in the carpark at the end. If there’s no spaces available, there’s plenty of parking available on the street. Service

Our service is a hybrid mix of contemporary and traditional. Every Sunday, we sing contemporary songs using modern instruments, as well as a hymn on our pipe organ. We pray, asking God for forgiveness, as well as for the needs of people in our congregation. And there’s a 30 minute sermon expounding a particular part of the Bible.

Kids Teaching Time

Every Sunday during school term, we run kids teaching time for the kids (ages 4-8) in the hall next to the church. The kids leave during the sermon and come back before the end of the service. There’s always two leaders rostered on, and parents are welcome to sit in. All our leaders have Blue Cards and have completed ChildSafe Training. Parents just need to fill in this form for their kids to participate.

Morning Tea

You are welcome to hang around after the service for espresso coffee and morning tea. Everyone is friendly and up for a chat, so stick around to say hello over a flat white.

Frequently asked questions

Dress casual, like you would out at the shops. Church isn’t about showing off to other people, or pretending like you’re someone you’re not. We’d simply love to meet you and welcome you.

We aim to start on time at 9:30am, so it’s good to arrive around 5-10 mins before to say hi and find a seat.

Our service goes anywhere from 60 min to 90 min, depending on what’s on that morning. We’re typically finished by 10:45am, but sometimes we finish earlier at 10:30am or later around 11. Baptisms or The Lord’s Supper make the service run a bit longer.

We sing together, close our eyes to pray (as someone prays from the front), say hello to one another during the service, hear the Bible read and preached, and spend time together afterwards over morning tea, which everyone is welcome to join.

No – there’s no pressure or expectation for visitors to give. We just want our guests to enjoy the service without feeling they need to pay to be there, and we don’t take up a collection during the service either. Giving is something our regular members do joyfully. However, if you really want to contribute financially, we won’t stop you! You can find details at ithacapc.org.au/give

The Lord’s Supper is on the first Sunday of every month, during the service, straight after the sermon. The elders of the church distribute the bread (representing Jesus’ body), then the grape juice (representing Jesus’ blood), and we all eat and drink together. The Lord’s Supper is for anyone who calls Jesus their Lord and God and King and Saviour. If that doesn’t describe you, just let the elements go past as they are distributed – no one is judging.
